Hungary Budapest Metro and Suburban Railway - Serves 1 million passengers daily, one year constant reduction of 90-95% bacteria.
Budapest Metro Lines
Background
airDefender’s manufacturing factory, TitanPE Technologies, and its engineering technology was established since 2004. In 2017, the brand, airDefender®, was established in Hong Kong.
In 2017, Titan PE Technologies signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Resysten in Hungary, in the presence of Li Bin, the minister of National Health and Family Planning Commission in China and Mihaly Varga, the minister for National Economy in Hungary, for the antimicrobial photocatalytic coating solution provider in Hungary for the Budapest Metro lines.
Below are pictures of the contract signing day:
Result findings - handrails and handles
The protective coating was applied to more than 27,300 meters of handrail and handles in the Budapest Metro Line. Results were measured 1, 4 and 8 months after the treatment. Effectiveness of our solutions maintained and the bacteria level was much lower than before application.
Result findings - trams
To prove the incomparable effectiveness of the coating solution, a unique experiment at Debrecen Public Transport Company was set up:
Two identical trams, same type, same condition, were chosen and 9 measuring points were identified at the very same point on both. But after the first (base) ATP measurement, one tram was coated only.
After the coating, the trams were treated identically in every way, got the same ordinary cleaning as usual, and participate in everyday traffic.
3 months later, the ATP measurement was repeated at the same points. The results were more than convincing: the uncoated (control) tram more or less got the same ATP results, while the airDefender solution coated tram showed staggering reduction as below:
Result findings – Railway fleets
The protective coating also covered the whole suburban railway fleet of Budapest. The fleet operates in 3 lines, all together with 98 trains (294 vehicles) transporting more than 250.000 passengers every day from the suburbs to the capital and back.
ATP test results after 3 months, measured on Csepel line:

Akron Children’s hospital
Background
Our manufacturer, TitanPE technologies cooperated with an applicator, WELL Shield, in the USA to apply our antibacterial coating in Akron Children’s hospital in 2015, with a view to reduce the cross-infection ad asthma risk for children.
Bacteria count and cross infection data was measured 12 and 17 months after the application of the coating and a significant reduction on the bacteria count and cross- infection rate was recorded. Infection rates declined by approximately 30%, and this decline was statistically significant in the research industry. A research article was published on the America Journal of Infection Control.
Implications
These results are encouraging and suggest that broad interior use of a durable photocatalytic coating may reduce the incidence of some types of infections in health care settings. It also has proven the long lasting durability of the coating solution.
